Free Validation Letter

After a debt collector has first contacted you, you have thirty (30) days to request the debt collector to validate the debt.  Often, the debt collector will send you little more than just an invoice to validate your debt.  Even if this information is sufficient to comply with Section 1692g of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it is important to ask the debt collector for as much information as possible when asking the collector to validate the debt.

Once the debt collector has received your request for validation, the debt collector must cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector verifies the debt or provides a copy of the judgment to you.
